1987 was a good year....
After watching Jerry deteriorate during 1984, 1985, and 1986, I reveled in every show I caught in 1987 [regrettably only 6 --- the life of a married lawyer and parent of a 2 year old]. Yes, the deterioration started in 1984.... from July 1974 through fall of 1983, I had only seen one show that I considered "mediocre" [Des Moines 12/7/82], and that wasn't a bad show.... just not a great one.... then I caught a really weak New Haven show in April.... one where Jerry was definitely not merely coked out.... And by the July 1986 RFK shows, there was definitely something amiss.... more than an abscessed tooth!!! Or at least that was more the symptom than the disease.... in any event, starting with the two Hartford shows in March, through the Dylan shows during the summer..... Jerry looked and sounded great!!! Now I wasn't at this show [hence no rating], but the boys played great!! Best Dew ever? I don't know about that..... Maybe not even the best in 1987.....
there were some awesome Dew's during the year.... including 3/27. But, that is all subjective.... just like some daze I think the Dew from Cornell '77 is the best ever. Others, I'm into a '72 Dew.... Proof that the Dead met you where you were, and fed right into all you were feeling in that moment!! Forever Grateful for the Dead!!

Best Morning Dew Ever
I recently found this Morning Dew after searching for about 27 years. I had this version on an unlabeled tape i got in College and went through the exercise of sifting through the better part of late-80's Morning Dews in order to find it. If for nothing else, check out this Dew, IMHO, it is the best I've heard.

Walking the tightrope, stranger
Wow, thought they were going to blow it when they were trying to wrap it all up in Feels like at Stranger. They're either super geniuses or just got lucky. Sounded great 'cause they ended up nailing it.
